I love words. They are powerful.
God created the world by speaking words. He shows His character and His plans through words. How did any of us come to faith? By hearing and believing words of the gospel. And where do we turn when we need strength, wisdom, conviction, or hope? His living and active Word.
Humans, made in God’s image, are the only creatures with the ability to communicate with words. What a gift and responsibility! We are called to use our words in many ways- to build each other up, to speak truth in love, to confess our sins and needs, etc… Ultimately, we’ve been given the gift of words to glorify God. I pray this blog will do just that.
I regret the times I crafted my words to hurt someone else. Speaking from anger, jealousy, or pride will build a wall. But a humble “I was wrong, please forgive me” can build a bridge. I can’t erase the careless words I’ve said (or have yet to say), but I find comfort knowing I am growing in the most beautiful words I know- mercy and grace.
Writing is a form of worship to me. It helps me slow down and view situations through a gospel lens. It also is a way I encourage fellow believers. I try to write with humility and vulnerability, showing there’s freedom of honest self-reflection and dependency on the Lord.
My words will fall short. My theology is not perfect. And yet, God can use me to point others to His Holy word and purpose. Because the power is in Him.
